Club Schutzhund Rive-Sud (CSRS) is located in Laprairie, just outside of Montreal , Quebec, Canada, a 20 minute drive from downtown. The club is a member of the German Shepherd Schutzhund Club of Canada. It has been at the same location since its inception. The first club house was a small ice-fishing hut and in 1991 the current club house was set up which has had additions and modifications since. The large training field is also lighted permitting late night training. CSRS innovated a few years ago by hosting a night trial, a novelty for Canada.

Recognized as a serious and very active club, CSRS is primarily axed on quality training in all three disciplines of Schutzhund. Training is year round irrespective of the weather (-35c to +35c), three times weekly from April till December and twice weekly from January till March. It has held a minimum of one trial annually since its beginnings and there have been 120 different members over the course of time with its annual roster ranging between 12 to over 35. Some have driven from as far away as two hours to train on a regular basis. One proud moment to note was in 1992 when with 22 members 35 working titles were achieved. This even prompted the club to take out an ad in the Schutzhund USA magazine challenging any other club in North America to do the same.
CSRS has a non discriminate policy and welcomes all working breeds. It has hosted five Regional Championships, the GSSCC Nationals in 1991, North American Working Bouvier Championships and numerous other working dog events. The club was also for a short time a member of DVG America. The food served at all events is world renowned due to the expertise of Grand Master Chef Herr Klein.
Always with the intent to learn, improve and motivate its members and the greater schutzhund community CSRS has been host to a multitude of seminars and trials with world re-nown judges and trainers over the years. In keeping with the philosophy of broadening the knowledge and being open-minded the club is proud of never having had the same judge return. Notables that have been present at the club include Gary Hanrahan, Paul Simon, Roman Schuler, Wolfgang Zeulner, Paul Riedel, Elmar Mannes, Gunther Diegel, Wolfgang Tauber, Joanne Plumb, Jurgen Ritzi, Helmut Konig(trainer), Friederich Stenner, Hartmut Beckman, Jan Hrouda, Raino Fluegge, Helmut Konig(judge), Floyd Wilson, Bogdan Sergo and Karen McIntyre.
The current roster of CSRS members includes 8 different nationalities honoring the cosmopolitan aspect of Montreal and today’s global society. Training is serious but the social part has never been ignored. Along with real German beer you can expect real Italian expresso’s , real Hungarian cake, real Chinese tea, real home made Slovakian Slivovica, Russian humor, etc. , the languages that go with it and last but not least good old Canadian hospitality.
